Aaron
Owner, ASE Master Technician

Aaron Schmitt

Owner, ASE Master Technician

Aaron graduated from the automotive repair program at LTC in 2004. Since then he has worked in all aspects of automotive repair. Downtown Auto was a natural progression from his background and wanting to keep an honest repair shop alive. Aaron is married to Steph, they have two children. He enjoys going up north, breaking RC cars then fixing them, biking, going to car shows with the family, and growing his flashlight collection. When asked why the automotive industry he said, “Helping people. Problem solving. Critically thinking. Making people and coworkers happy.”

Travis
Technician

Travis Ricker

Technician

Travis started in the automotive industry in 2006. He worked at a local dealership before joining Downtown Auto in 2018. He has a long term girlfriend and two children. Travis enjoys playing with his kids, being outside, playing games, and working on his old car and truck. When asked why the automotive industry he said, “There is always something new, different challenges and things to see.”

Alex
Technician

Alex Stamos

Technician

Alex went to NWTC and graduated from the Diesel repair program in 2015. He worked as a diesel technician prior to joining Downtown Auto. He is also MX engine certified. Alex is married, has 5 cats and a St. Bernard. He enjoys off-roading and spending time at home and with friends. When asked why the automotive industry he said, “For the challenge. Between efficiency, figuring things out, and problem solving, It’s rewarding. Also, being able to help others on a daily basis.”

Charlie

Charlie Zuege

Technician

Charlie worked for two years as an autotech apprentice then graduated from NWTC’s automotive repair program in 2014 and has worked as a technician ever since! He has a long term girlfriend, two dogs, two cats, and a bearded dragon. Charlie enjoys spending time up north, hiking, biking, and hunting. When asked why the automotive industry he said, “I get to work with a great group of guys. I’m always learning new things.”

Aloysious Bantamoi

Technician

Aloysious has been a technician since 2007. He is married with four children. Aloysious enjoys watching soccer and listening to music. When asked why the automotive industry he said, “I enjoy auto repair because of my uncle who owned a local auto repair shop. Because of him I was able to fix the first car I had at the age of fifteen. That was when I realized my passion for becoming a mechanic.”

Jeff Knoespel

Service Advisor

Jeff graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with a degree in Journalism. After graduation he worked in several different sectors of the automotive industry – service, collision repair, and sales. He grew up going to car shows and reading every car magazine he could get his hands on. His knowledge base is perfect for his position! He has been working in the industry since 2015. He is married with two children. Jeff enjoys reading, movies, and playing with cars! When asked why he enjoys the automotive industry he said, “ Auto repair can be stressful, but my goal is to help people understand their car so they can be confident they are making a good decision when the inevitable repair is needed.”

Tyler
Service Advisor

Tyler has worked multiple years in the private security industry, completed schooling as a CNA and EMT-B, and also worked in carpentry prior to finding his home in the automotive industry. He is married with two children, has 3 dogs, 3 cats and a Russian tortoise! “When asked why the automotive industry he said, “When I had a large vehicle repair it was daunting until I was educated on why the repair was needed and the process it would take to fix it. I want to help people understand what is going on with their vehicle in terms they can understand. “

Michelle DuBois

Receptionist

Michelle is the smiling face behind our counter in the mornings! She worked for 28 years in the banking industry and 5 years in the trucking industry. She has taken many courses from NWTC and is insurance and notary licensed. Michelle has been married for 42 years and counting and has two grown children and a cat. She enjoys being with family, boating, camping, hiking, and traveling. When asked why the automotive industry she said,”Safety is the number one priority, our technicians will repair your vehicle like it is their own.”

Stephanie

Stephanie Schmitt

Owner, Business Manager

Steph is a registered nurse by trade. She graduated from LTC in 2004 and then Concordia University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She is married to Aaron with two amazing kids. She enjoys reading, spending time with the family, gardening, and creating projects for Aaron. When asked why the automotive industry she said, “It has been quite the wonderful experience transferring my mindset from nursing to the automotive industry. They are more related than one would imagine! I love how I am still taking care of people, however now it is their need to have reliable and safe transportation vs. caring for them when sick.“
